We forgot about names and looked at each work on its own. Quite naturally, we were inspired, deeply moved (calling each other at all hours), often bored to despair, disillusioned, stirred again, and generally educated by the task. Some of what we hoped for was rarely there, but some was much better than we'd expected, setting standards of its own that began determining "our" anthology.
