Evidence that librarians across the country also enthusiastically embraced this genre display option is seen in an October 1993 exchange from the Publib electronic discussion list, in which one librarian stated that her library “enjoyed the genre dumps we 26 PPYA Origin, History, and Committee Processes purchased from ALA Graphics (developed by YALSA)” and asked for ideas on where she might purchase a new book dump because ALA had, by that time, discontinued selling the units (Caywood 1993).
Attendees enjoyed a day and a half of author presentations, panels, discussion groups, and even a costume event. ” Baker and Taylor abandoned the sale and marketing of genre book dumps in the early 1990s and in 1994 discontinued their support for publication of the paperback genre lists (Leahey 2005).
