Policies are broad statements of intent that management wants to follow. ” Because a policy may not be specific enough to guide employee behavior in all cases, procedures (also called standards) may need to be established to define how the policy should be implemented. ” The policy describes the end result that is desired, and the procedure describes behavior that contributes to meeting this end result.
