Therefore, despite the economic and scientific achievements attributable to higher education in recent decades, society’s discontent with HEIs is still rooted in the legislative and social realms (Alexander 2000). The torrent of criticism has forced many institutions to re-examine their educational and social missions and also look for new alternatives for funding (Mora and Nugent 1998).
